Born in 1927 in Agen, the young François-Xavier Lalanne followed an artistic training in Paris during which he met many enriching artists such as Dali, Brancusi and Magritte. In collaboration with Yves Saint-Laurent, he was soon noticed by the great collectors of his time, including the famous architect Peter Marino, as decorator of the Dior boutique and as landscape designer for the Jardin des Halles.

It is a fantastic and satirical universe that Lalanne builds with a whole series of animal sculptures imbued with a naturalist style that is very personal to him. Domestic and wild animals are at the centre of his sculptural work.
