Photography is now considered the 8th art, and its success has continued to grow internationally, whether in auctions, contemporary art fairs, or through the development of galleries entirely dedicated to it. France plays a significant role in this influence, thanks to events such as Paris Photo, the Salon de la Photo in Paris, and the Rencontres d’Arles, where connoisseurs, enthusiasts, and collectors from around the world gather.
Since its creation in 2014 under the direction of Ophélie Guillerot, our department has been organizing auctions of antique, modern, and contemporary photographs. From the first daguerreotypes to contemporary digital prints, the selection includes portraits, landscapes, scenes of daily life, and poetic, unusual, or historical images.
We focus our auctions on artists whose talent has been widely recognized by critics and the public for many years, such as Dienes, Doisneau, Capa, Kertész, Bert Stern, Mapplethorpe, and Man Ray, as well as on more contemporary artists like Robert Longo, H.G. Esch, and Anja Jensen. Antique photographs also receive our full attention and are integrated into our cataloged auctions, often as part of our historical and antique documents sales, due to their significance in the collective memory. These include original albumen prints by Gustave Le Gray or Nadar, among others.
These auctions provide a comprehensive understanding of the market and offer collectors and enthusiasts the opportunity to enrich their private collections.
Good to Know: Our Photography department organizes one auction per year in Paris and an additional online sale. The department leverages key moments in Paris’s cultural calendar to highlight these photographic works.

The promotion strategy relies on modern tools and a trusted network established between the house, collectors, and professionals over many years.
The house has a unique communication strategy, providing sellers with modern, targeted tools for effective international exposure. We place great importance on the production of the auction catalog, focusing on both its design and content, whether in print or entirely digital format. During our campaigns, we engage buyers from our portfolio across all specialties, as well as identified potential buyers. Communication is conducted through multiple channels: online and offline advertisements, social media, email campaigns, media outreach, influencers, and auction platforms, with high-quality and tailored content, including images, text, and videos.
