« The greatest pleasure of this profession remains for me the discovery of an unknown piece, it gives me the feeling of paying homage to the person who made it and thus of saving a part of his creations… »
— Philippine Dupré la Tour
Headed since 2003 by Philippine Dupré la Tour, a graduate of the Institut National de Gemmologie de Paris, the Jewels & Fine Pearls department of Aguttes is now one of the leaders on the Parisian market.
Prestigious catalogued auctions, under the hammer of auctioneers, are held every quarter in Paris.
These sales consist of jewellery and pieces of jewellery set with diamonds, precious stones (sapphires, rubies and emeralds) and other quality gemstones. We also present fine pearls on the market, a field in which we are the French leader. The selected jewels generally date from the beginning of the 19th century to the 1980s, illustrating rich periods of jewellery creation.
The great names and exceptional stones of the jewellery industry
The jewellery and pieces of jewellery signed by the great houses of the Place Vendôme hold an important place in our sales: Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels, Boucheron, Chaumet, Mauboussin, Fred, Tiffany & Co, Mellerio, Bulgari, … as well as the creations of remarkable jewellers who forged the History of Jewellery such as René Lalique or Georges Fouquet, and those of more confidential creators of the 20th century such as Suzanne Belperron, Raymond Templier, René Boivin, Jean Despres, Georges Lenfant, O.J. Perrin, Bulgari, Marina B., JAR, Jean Vendome, Claude Lalanne…Our past sales have achieved record results for Suzanne Belperron, René Boivin, Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels…but also for diamonds, pearls, emeralds, sapphires…
They are composed of multiple brooches, clips and Art Deco bracelets signed Cartier, rings, bracelets and tiaras from Chaumet, Art Nouveau rings from Georges Fouquet, earrings, necklaces and bracelets from Boucheron, or minaudières, sets, lapel clips and brooches from Van Cleef & Arpels. All these treasures, generally set with diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds, go under the hammer at Aguttes in Paris.
For more than 20 years, we have developed, thanks to our seriousness, an important clientele of faithful and high quality buyers. They are French and international collectors as well as investors from all over the world who trust us.
In order to assist them in their purchase process, laboratory certificates (LFG in Paris, HRD or GIA) are carried out. These analyses allow buyers to buy with confidence wherever they are. Photo and video files as well as condition reports are also made available to them.
Private and public exhibitions are also organised for several weeks before each auction during which our team welcomes the buyers when they come to Paris.
Appraisal and valuation
In most cases, jewellery requires a physical examination of the object. Therefore, the appraisals are carried out daily in our offices in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Lyon and Brussels, but also by appointment in Aix en Provence, Bordeaux, Dijon, Nantes, Strasbourg, Metz, Toulouse … during appraisal days. We can also carry out appraisals at your home, your bank or any other place of your choice, at a time that suits you.
Putting their experience at your service, Philippine Dupré la Tour and her team of qualified specialists will receive you. A free estimate will be proposed to you in view of an auction.
In some cases we can carry out an expertise at a distance. Every day, we receive requests for estimates by email. You can start by sending us photographs of your jewels if you prefer.
We are also at your disposal to carry out inventories with a view to sharing and to advise you so that it is carried out in the best conditions.
Selling at auctions
After the valuation and appraisal, we can discuss the best sales strategy for you and your situation. Our common goal is to sell at the best price. We are here to defend your interests and accompany you from start to finish.
When you decide to deposit your jewellery, a sales mandate contracts the tailor-made proposal that we will have established together. This specifies the lots entrusted to us, the relevant estimates and reserve prices, the general conditions of sale, the costs to be borne by the seller and all the information concerning your rights. The contract is signed bilaterally either by exchange of letters (email, post, electronic signature…) or during an appointment.
Communication and marketing
The work of expertise and preparation of the sale catalogue is then thorough: realization of description sheets, research of historical information, technical expertise, photographs… The catalogue is carefully realized, printed and put on line on our website. It is then distributed as widely as possible on international platforms and supported by various newsletters. An important communication plan is elaborated, of which we transmit you the strong points. You can attend the auction on the day of the auction and see the work that has been done. After the auction, we will keep you informed of the result and send you your payment together with a detailed account of the costs.
