Taittinger

Taittinger was founded in 1932 by Pierre Taittinger, an industrialist. At the beginning of the 2000s, the Taittinger house owns several prestigious properties such as the Cristallerie Baccarat, the luxury hotel La Mamounia or the Taittinger Champagnes. In 2005, all the shareholders of the House of Taittinger decided to sell all their properties to an American fund, but the latter did not wish to keep the Taittinger Champagne. After a fierce fight against big groups such as LVMH or Rothschild, Pierre Emmanuel Taittinger, grandson of Pierre Taittinger, bought the estate in 2006. Soon his children Vitalie and Clovis joined their father in the adventure of Taittinger champagnes.

The Taittinger estate today represents 170 hectares and is composed of Pinot Noir (48%), Chardonnay (37%) and Pinot Meunier (15%) vines. The house has made the choice, like many wine houses today, not to use herbicides, thus allowing nature to express itself as it wishes. The vinification is done plot by plot to leave each one with its own identity. The blending is done by the tasting committee and Pierre Emmanuel Taittinger. Once the blending has been carried out, the Crus created are kept separately.

The house Taittinger counts to date 11 Crus created in France: Nocturne, Nocturne rosé, Compte de Champagne blanc de blanc, Compte de Champagne rosé, Brut Millésimé, Brut Réservé, Demi sec, Prestige rosé, Les folies de la Marquetterie, Cuvée Prestige and Prélude Grand Cru.

But in addition to being present in France, the house of Taittinger is also present in California. The house has developed, in partnership with Kobrand Corporation, the local distributor, Domaine Cameros. The wines of this estate are made with the Champagne method imported straight from France. Five Crus are made there, three champagnes: Brut, Brut rosé, Le rêve Blanc de Blancs; but also two red wines: Avant-garde Pinot Noir and Famous Gate Pinot Noir.

We regularly offer bottles of Domaine Taittinger during our sales. If you would like to include a batch of Domaine Taittinger, please do not hesitate to contact Marion QUESNE, head of the Wines & Spirits department at Aguttes.
