Universal Genève is a Swiss watch brand founded in 1894 by Numa Emile Descombes and Ulysse Georges Perret. It is a manufacture producing their own watches in their entirety: from the case to the movement. Universal Genève created the first chronograph wristwatch in 1917. Today disappeared, Universal Genève is a mythical brand of the Swiss watchmaking industry renowned for its chronographs and its numerous mythical models: compax, tri-compax, aero-compax, compur, polerouter, disco-volante… In the 1970s a Universal Genève chronograph model was regularly worn on Formula 1 circuits by the wife of the driver Jochen Rindt and gave its name to this model: NINA RINDT.
