Cheval Blanc

The first traces of the Saint-Emilion estate date back to the 12th century, with accounts in which it is said that the estate produces very prestigious and high quality wine. It was from 1832, when Jean Jacques Ducasse bought the estate, that Saint-Emilion wines were to become successful. The estate remained in the family for more than 150 years. These years were devoted to developing the estate and making it known. In 1852, the “vin de Figeac” is renamed and takes the name of “Cheval Blanc”. The first medal for the Cheval Blanc wine is won in 1862. Other medals will follow.

The 20th century was marked by the great modernization that the Cheval Blanc estate underwent. Gaston Vaissière, the cellar master, had a lot to do with this because during his 44 years of work for the company, he took care of the estate like a child. In 1954, the Cheval Blanc wine was awarded the distinction of Premier Grand Cru classé A, which led him to work alongside great wines such as Château Margaux and Château d’Yquem. In 1998, Bernard Arnault and Albert Frères bought the Saint-Emilion estate and gave it a new dynamic while respecting the estate’s codes.

In 2011, the Domaine du Cheval Blanc is getting a facelift in terms of accommodation, with a new environmentally friendly winery being created by Christian de Portzamparc. This very modern Chai links technology to man with the creation of a tailor-made vinification, where each parcel of the estate has its own vat. It is at the origin of the purity of the Cheval Blanc wine which is a blended wine made of Cabernet Franc and Merlot.

The Cheval Blanc wine is often presented at our Wines and Spirits sales in Lyon Brotteaux. A wine of prestige and excellence, it is a delight for the taste buds at dinners or tastings. We very regularly put Cheval Blanc wines on sale.
