René Lalique is one of the most important creators of the Art Nouveau movement. Born in 1860, the artist began an apprenticeship at a very young age with the famous jeweller Louis Aucoc and attended the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. After some studies in London, he returned to work for the greatest Parisian houses before opening his own jewellery shop in Place Vendôme.
But Lalique did not confine himself to the world of jewellery alone. The work of enamel, glass and crystal was of particular interest to the designer who launched the concept of luxury packaging. His perfume bottles in particular, true inventive and colorful masterpieces, are the sign of a very advanced refinement on the mass production market.
From then on, René Lalique seems to have achieved this astonishing complex that meets the very objective of Art Nouveau: the dissemination of quality industrial art. To this end, a series of exceptional pieces manage to combine aesthetics and functionality.
