Jean Dufy

Jean Dufy was born in 1888 in Le Havre, he is the seventh of a family of eleven children. His youth is lulled by the music of his father, a talented amateur and by his romantic readings he particularly likes Baudelaire, Mallarmé or Rimbaud. It was in 1906, thanks to a modern art exhibition held in Le Havre that Jean Dufy had his revelation, he discovered Matisse, Derain and even Picasso.

Jean Dufy was an exceptional colourist, he drew on the work of Cézanne, Braque and Picasso to mix opposing colours and play with the material to create unique works. His talent is reflected in his success in the art market.
