The Migeon Dynasty

MIGEON Dynasty:

Three of the cabinetmakers of this dynasty were named after Peter. The Journal-Book relating the work of the workshop from 1730 to 1736 is a precious document.

If Pierre I did not sign his furniture, Pierre II and III bore the same stamp. Son of Pierre III, master in 1735, Pierre IV distinguished himself from the others by his originality and his prestigious orders for the Garde Meuble de la Couronne, the Menus Plaisirs, the Marquise de Pompadour, the Duc d’Orléans, the Duchess of Rohan, the Duchess of Epernon, the Marshal of Noailles…  Installed rue de Charenton, its furniture with discreet curves and crossbow-shaped facades are above all veneered with talent. Forsaking bronze on his creations, he prefers above all violet wood veneer, sometimes drawing polylobate reserves in butterfly wings, sometimes abstract decorations as well as well-drawn and geometrical inlays of flowers. His Regency-inspired furniture is very modern with this precious wood decor.
